of the home with two protected side porches, each with a wood-burning fireplace.

“In addition to a screened-in porch off the kitchen and great room, we decided to add a covered porch off the master suite for some quiet outdoor space,” says Mary Anna. “This is really handy when the whole family is over and a few adults want a quiet corner to talk.”

Down on the lakeside dock is a petite gazebo that has become a prime fishing spot for the family. The Edenfields also created a small beach area where the grandchildren can safely swim and play.

Inside the home, there are many more informal sitting areas that cater to either a crowd or just a table for two. One of the couple’s favorite spots is a small table with two Amish rockers located in front of the fireplace in the great room. “You could say we have a passion for fireplaces,” says Mary Anna.

Near the front entry is a formal dining room. The Edenfields brought furniture from their primary home in Atlanta that fit into the new space. “We originally planned to sell the Atlanta home and move into an apartment during the week and live on the lake during the weekends,” says Bruce. “Before long I realized apartment life was not for me, so we opted to live on the lake
