The arched beveled glass window (top left) of the walnut front door is subtly

stylish and inviting. The wide foyer has room for a storage bench and antique-looking cabinet, topped with a round mirror and painted wood frame. The home’s collection of furniture and accents was pulled together by the Knisses, who felt the home should be filled with favorite pieces rather than follow a specific style.

The décor is a mix of materials and styles. If Milt and Christine liked it, they incorporated it into the home. Hanging on the wall near the stairway (above) is a painting of the Düsseldorf they picked up when traveling to Germany. The loft above offers the best seat in the house to view the lake.

The 22-foot cathedral ceiling lets the sun shine to the central great room (right).

The fireplace was designed to remain in scale with the furniture so the focus was on the view and not a massive fireplace.
